Credit Facilitation Services |
Credit is a critical facility to ensure establishment of new and expansion of existing projects. In the past, the DA had been able to directly provide loans. Under the AFMA however, only government financial institutions can do so.
QUEDANCOR is the major conduit of small loans for livestock enterprises. Together with the GMA Livestock Program, specific loan packages for pigs, goats, poultry have been designed. Loan schemes (short-term) continue to be designed to respond to requirement of farmer-cooperators.

For bigger loans, the Land Bank of the Philippines has windows for livestock production for cooperatives. The Development Bank of the Philippines is another possible source of loans. Some rural banks continue to maintain credit windows for livestock.

Extension Support, Education and Training Services |
Technologies must be promoted for adoption, information must be disseminated and the capability of both the change agents and the client groups enhanced. These are basic needs for improved performance of the livestock and poultry industry.

A Capability Building program is needed. This will train farmers, farmer groups, cooperatives, and LGU technicians and personnel on all aspect of livestock and poultry production, post-production and management. Training facilities will be upgraded and modernized. Support will be provided in the conduct seminars, workshops, relevant dialogues and consultations. |

The establishment/upgrading of Techno-Demo Farms and Livestock Model Farms are important elements to showcase different livestock and poultry technologies, which are economical, effective and practical in a given agro-economic setting. These are implemented by many RFUs and LGUs. |
